Welcome to this short demo

This demo shows the desktop of the fictional character Diane Reilly, an HR Business Partner at Albion Insurance. This demonstration focuses on 2 main things. The first is the very obvious desktop metaphor that is familiar to most people working in a professional environment. There are windows that can be opened, closed, resized and dragged around. The desktop has a taskbar for easy access to apps that serve to deliver the scenario to the participant of the simulation. The idea is to make the simulation easier to work in, as the desktop is commonplace and requires little introduction.

Every app on the desktop has functionality that mimics real apps, to some extent, but not fully. The purpose is to use them as the delivery mechanism for the scenario the participants will be challenged with.

The participant will eventually be able to fully communicate using the built-in email and messaging apps, and will have access to a shared drive for file access to pdf, docx, xlsx, and pptx files (they are not real).

The second, and major, part of the demonstration is the actual delivery of the challenges. The challenges need to earn their place without being too arduous or difficult, but also not too easy and not making the participant pause and think through the mini challenges they face along the way.

The pedagogy of the challenges needs to be meticulously constructed, and this demo does not promise to have achieved this, but it does aim to facilitate meaningful discussion by making some concepts visual and obvious.

The visual constructs and desktop metaphor need to be used and reused so that the challenges can be engaging, challenging and ultimately rewarding via the insights the participant receives as a product of their time using the software. The aim is that the software should facilitate all the above while providing a delightful experience to all users of the system.

Thank you!

I hope this gave you plenty of positive things to think about.
